Wedding Day Rainout? No Way!

This story came from M. Wells of Remsen, NY

Our wedding was a complete washout! We had scheduled our wedding for June 18, 2011 months in advance.

We had a beautiful ceremony planned in the town of Barneveld, New York where there is has been a beautiful park built overlooking the majestic Trenton Falls.

So, our wedding day arrived and there we were sitting at Morey’s bar which was located one block west of Mappa Hall where we were to hold the reception, staring out the windows watching the rain fall; seemingly by the bucket loads.

Kim, my beautiful bride, was totally dejected. Her chin was dragging the floor so hard I was worried she’d develop a callous or get a splinter.

We were standing around praying the rain would quit by 2pm - wedding time - and it was 1:30 when I had a grand idea:

I jumped up and said, “Its raining, yes! But… does anyone hear any thunder?”

I slowly made the brightest smile possible and said, “I don’t either! A little water never hurt anyone… and if there is no lightening, there’s no reason we can’t still have the wedding we planned.” I said, “why, in my army days we called that ‘liquid sunshine’.”

A Few people brought umbrellas, some had raincoats and at 2pm, we stomped out across the street through the rain and puddles, and we had our wedding.

Afterward, while drying off at the reception hall, Kim looked at me with her big blue eyes and said, “Thank you for being you today.”

Ashley Parks & Michael Golsby Wedding

The following pictures were taken at a very nice outdoor wedding at Karoli Park in West Monroe, Louisiana.

The weather was rather cold and a little rainy, but that didn't dampen the spirits of the wedding pary or the quests.

I took the following pictures of various people and activities taking place at the event.

Silly White Horse Saddle Slider Western Wedding

This Came From Sarah R.  of Rocky Branch, LA

I read the story of the Grand Canyon Wedding posted on your site and laughed my tail off! After reading it, I had to share my own story.

My husband and I are big fans of the television show, “Walker: Texas Ranger” and we wanted a wedding with the feel of a modern western where everyone had cowboy hats and boots on.

After the outdoor wedding, my husband and I were going to ride away on a white horse.

We rented the horse and the saddle but I didn’t know how to put it on him. I assumed all men knew how to do that so I didn’t question Tom’s ability to do so.

So, there we were following the ceremony. Tom mounted the horse, then reached down to help me up. As soon as my weight was off the ground, the saddle slid.

It was funny because I tried to catch Tom as he fell over, and I fell flat on my back. He fell sprawled out on top of me with his face buried deep in my cleavage!

Seeing we weren’t hurt, people started laughing. My brother-in-law remarked, “Can’t you wait till you get a room?”

Lost Wallet Wedding Blessing

This story comes to us from Lisa D.  of Johnson, TN

Our wedding took months to plan. We’d go to the Church to get married, then meet at the Brandi House later for the reception, Toward the end of the evening, we were to sneak away to our honeymoon.

After we each said, “I do”, George told me he lost his wallet. I looked at him and gave him back his words, “You lost your wallet!?”

He started explaining how he had to fix his pants at his brother’s house earlier, and that if she could stall everyone at the Church, he’d get the wallet and the key that was in it, to unlock the Brandi House doors.

Little did we know, while I was stalling all the guests at the church, across town the Brandi House was in flames.

According to the fire department, there was a gas leak in the kitchen. The Fire Marshall’s report said the pilot light under the hot water heater ignited the room full of natural gas causing an explosion.

If George had not misplaced that wallet, someone would have been in that kitchen when it exploded.

Sometimes little inconveniences happen for a reason.

Wedding Gag wasn't Cool!

The wedding was so quiet, not even the church mouse was stirring. Everyone knew the groom was mad as hell so they steered clear all day.

Why was the groom so angry?

Well, let me tell you:

It was common knowledge that Mike and Katrina were often playing gags on each other. It was tit for tat. Mike would play some joke on Katrina, then Katrina would pay him back with something bigger and badder.

It was Katrina’s turn to get Mike back. Apparently, she gave the tuxedo rental company clerk a hundred dollar bill to put some Arthritis ointment in his undershorts.

The ointment had dried in the shorts, so it took a while before Mikes perspiration activated it.

Everyone knew what she had done because Katrina had it typed in small print on the wedding programs.

While in front of the preacher, Mike was shifting uneasily from side to side, and after about 10 minutes his face began to turn red.

As he recited his vows, Katrina looked at him sheepishly, and when they were through and after they kissed, Mike burst out, “K, I’m going to get you!” And he chased her down the isle to the limo.

"Spring" Wedding Marriage Proposal

From F. Hopkins of Louisiana.
This story involves a frog, water, and spring.

I knew she wanted to get married, but I kept putting it off. Then she threatened to break up so I decided she was going to have to work for her proposal.

It was February 14, 2009 when I popped the question. Let me tell you how I did it.

It was first thing in the morning when she gave me my Valentine’s gift; a box of chocolates. I told her then that she’d get her gift later.

That evening she was pressing me for her gift, and he kept asking me about it. Finally, I gave in. I sat her in the living room chair, saying, “I’ll be right back”.

I went to the garage, picked up the shoebox, went to the kitchen, got a glass of water, a pen, and a calendar.

I set the stuff down on the coffee table and asked, “what do each of these have in common”? I flipped the calendar to April, and I pulled a document from my pocket.

She watched me, then said, “what?”

I said, “Open the shoebox..”
She put the box on her lap, removed the lid, and right on queue, a frog sprang out. She jumped to her feat with a yell.. She said, “I’m gonna kill you!”

I said, “You aren’t done yet. What do these things have in common? After a minute, I asked, “give up?”

She didn’t answer. I said, “They all have the word ‘spring’ in common. The frog springs, the pen has a spring in it, the water came from a spring, and the calendar is opened to the spring season.

She asked, “Spring?” Her eyes were wide with wonder as I handed her the document while reaching into my other pocket.

She unfolded the document, and I waited; watching here face for signs of comprehension. When she started looking up I saw she understood. “A Spring Wedding?” She asked tearfully. I went to one knee, and took her hand. I said, “if you’ll have me. Will you?” I asked.

She started jumping up and down. “Yes… Yes…Yes. I will marry you!”
